Colorado Shooting

Father God, I know many prayers are being raised this morning as news spread about the tragedy in Colorado last night. Souls perished last night, others are injured, both physical and certainly emotionally. And I’m sure you’ve heard many a “why God?” been whispered through tears………  I do lift the brokenhearted and the broken to you. Your healing work and gifts of the Spirit be released upon them now. I know you have that covered Papa… you were on it way before I woke up. I come to you because I’m hearing something else in your heart, like the quiet voice of an instrument playing a soft harmony to the melody of the day. Papa, we need to make a shift, take a stand, turn the tide, and change our minds on what is acceptable to entertain and amuse ourselves with. Philippians says “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.”  What a guilty nations we have of doing just the opposite. Even when we try to make a TV or movie be about the good guys, we seem to elaborate so immensely on the villian, we are actually teaching our culture how to become villains! Oh Lord, may your conviction be upon your people to raise a standard and say NO MORE! May we set our minds to agree with heaven and say only those things that are honoring to you, uplifting to us, and beneficial for our children will we allow in our households. may we hold ourselves to a higher standard. And I’m not only talking violence God….  you warn us women in Song of Songs not to stir or awaken love until it so desires. So all that romantic entertain, even if it’s not sexually charged, but the stuff that creates in our minds unrealistic expectations of the perfect man and the perfect romance are just as damaging for the health of our future families and marriages! Oh how we need to raise the standard higher, not just for ourselves, but for our future generations. Let us agree with heaven God. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

We should know from Revelation 21:4 that in heaven there will no longer be any tears, or any death, or any mourning, or any crying, or any pain. Why? Because such things shall have passed away. This is not just for some far distant future. It’s for today, too.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
